Think LITE - WERK less has always been our mantra - especially the WERK less part. Our design philosophy centers around our core values of offering ultralight equipment that truly enhances the outdoor experience. Each of our products is created to be versatile, reliable and sustainable. With the introduction of The DAILY DOSE 55L, you will find an ultralight pack that works equally well for the long trails or the weekend warrior. The 55L volume is perfect for long or short carries and comfortably handles loads in the 35+ pound range. Throw in an assortment of optional accessories such as external pockets that easily attach to the hip belt and shoulder straps, plus a water bottle carrier for the shoulder straps and your versatility level just skyrocketed. Reliability is a given because of our continual, real-life field testing in concert with our selection of the best of the best fabrics, components and production facilities, e.g., our packs and accessories are constructed of ULTRA 200X, ULTRA 400X or UltraGrid fabrics, use YKK zippers and time-tested hardware from Woojin, Fastex and Duraflex. Production is done in one of the best factories in the world, one with over 50 years of experience, Fair Trade Certified and a long term partner of Sustainable Apparel's Higgs Index. Because our designs are trail tested and use the most durable fabrics and components, we know our products are going to last through years of everyday wear and tear. We have also designed our hip belts and shoulder straps to be not only interchangeable for a comfortable fit but also easily replaceable if the need arises - NEWS FLASH: cute little chipmunks are not all that cute after they chew the webbing on your hip belt in half.
- Map Pocket - It's OK if you don't actually use this pocket for maps since very few people actually know how to read them anyway... just saying. We put it there so you can quickly find 'stuff' such as permits, small notebooks, letters from home, smartphone, etc.
- Side Pockets - Designed for quick access to water bottles or other beverages as you travel the territory ahead. Lucky for you that two 1L sized Smartwater bottles fit side by side, secured by our unique one-handed cord lock system.
- Front Stretch Pocket - Often called a 'stuff it' pocket, our stretch pocket is the perfect answer to those items you need to quickly access like a rain jacket when a thunderstorm rears its ugly head... we use Ultra Stretch which is a durable blend of UHMWPE, Nylon 6-6 and Lycra.
- Dual Side Compression Straps - When your pack is not full and you don't want gravity pull everything to the bottom or when the side pockets are combining fly rods and water bottles, you can rest assured the fly rod is securely strapped in for the ride.
- Snap Fasteners - Even though we're big fans of 'hook & loop' when used in the right places, there are places where it doesn't belong, like securing the roll top opening. So say goodbye to the tug-of-war between your fleece jacket and those gnarly little hooks.
- Modular Accessories - It's always nice to have options, especially when you would rather not pay for something you'll never use. We offer options such as detachable pockets for the hip belt or shoulder straps, even a water bottle carrier that fits on your shoulder strap.
- External Attachment Points - Won't fit inside? (here's looking at you bear canisters) then go ahead and strap it on the top or bottom. We include a Y-Strap for the top and a Utility Strap for the bottom (or top). There's also quick attachments for ice axes or trekking poles.
- Secret Pocket - Yes, it's true... Just check inside and you'll find a zippered pocket that's perfect for protecting your valuables from the elements like passports, credit cards, cash or smartphones - there's even a clip hook for your keys so you don't have to search for them.

How we measure
- The Height dimension is measured from the bottom to the Load Lifters, exclusive of the Roll Top Extension. When we measure volume, we use the 'Ping Pong Ball' method - checkout the FAQ's for a complete explanation.
How do you measure the volume of your packs?
- Short answer: we use the 'ping pong ball' method. Long answer: we fill the pack with ping pong balls and then dump them in a container with measuring lines on the side (think: large measuring cup). It is the simplest, most accurate and cost effective way we know of other than using the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Measuring) test which involves buying specific equipment and products such as specially made spheres that are exactly 1 cubic inch. We did our homework and bottom line: ping pong balls are a heck of a cheaper and almost as accurate - or at least as accurate as most people are when it comes to tossing everything in their pack.
Are your packs waterproof?
- Let's put it this way... they are highly water resistant but not waterproof. Yes, the fabric is waterproof (up to 200 psi) but every needle hole creates a water entry point unless seam taped and our design does not allow for effective seam taping. It's trade off of course, but based on our trail tested experience, there are more effective and much less expensive ways to keep your contents dry, e.g., your basic black garbage bag or trash compactor bags which are far more durable. Other alternatives include a waterproof rain cover which keeps your entire pack dry.
What is your warranty?
- Our basic warranty is best summed up in the phrase: 'Take care of your gear and it will take care of you'. We continually test our products in a variety of conditions, terrain and body types; we use the best materials available and assemble them in the best factory we can find. In short, we know our products work well and are built to last. However, if for whatever reason you have a problem with one of our products due to defects in materials or workmanship, we want to know about it. We will do our best to make it right in a fair and equitable way. To be clear, our warranty does not cover products that have been abused or modified in any way.
What is the recommended load weight?
- Based on our trail testing and feedback, we feel comfortable in recommending 35 pounds as an average. However, lower is always better as long as your safety is not compromised. Your results may vary depending on how you distribute the weight within the pack, your physical ability and conditioning, the terrain and even external factors such as weather or altitude. In any case, keep in mind that junk always expands to fill the volume.
Will a bear canister fit inside?
- A BV500 or similar size will fit inside vertically. A BV475 or similar size will be a tight fit horizontally. There is also the option of strapping it on top using our supplied Y-Strap.
Where are your products made?
- Our products are designed and trail tested in the US. After the final prototype is approved, the corresponding patterns, materials list (aka the Bill of Materials) and final prototype is sent to the factory in Vietnam. Their quality is second to none and have a proven track record of delivering high quality products for over 50 years. They are Fair Trade Certified and a long standing member of the Sustainable Apparel's Higg Index which allows suppliers to continually assess and then verify their environmental and social performance.
